BOARDWALK INSTALLATION FOR PUBLIC ACCESS AT NATURE PRESERVE

RENOVA successfully completed the construction and installation of the Greenwalk™ Boardwalk system at the South Cape May Meadows Preserve, an ecologically significant site that serves as a critical stopover for migratory birds along the Atlantic Flyway. This project represents the largest installation of the innovative boardwalk system to date, which is engineered to minimize the impact to sensitive habitats during installation and decrease maintenance costs over the life of the structure. Additionally, the Greenwalk™ system utilizes sustainable materials, further aligning with the client’s mission of conservation and stewardship.

The project included the installation of 2,675 linear feet of elevated boardwalk, 650 helical piles, and the seamless installation of a 50’ x 6’ Bedford ReadySpan™ pedestrian bridge, which connects key pathways in the preserve and offers visitors an enhanced perspective of the Preserve’s diverse natural features. To protect the Preserve’s sensitive environment, RENOVA implemented comprehensive environmental protection measures, including erosion and sediment controls, high-visibility fencing, and ground protection matting to minimize construction impacts.

During the project, the pedestrian bridge vendor noted that the installation would be “one of the most challenging” they had ever seen, as the bridge spanned over a body of water and was in a remote area of the preserve. By leveraging our team’s expertise and innovative approach, we completed the installation and seamlessly integrated the bridge into the boardwalk system, while meeting the highest standards of quality and functionality. Ultimately, the project was delivered on budget, demonstrating our commitment to cost management and client satisfaction.

The completed boardwalk provides a lasting benefit to the community and visitors by creating safe, accessible pathways to observe and enjoy the preserve’s vibrant ecosystems while minimizing human impact on the surrounding habitat. This project underscores RENOVA’s ability to overcome challenges through adaptability and expertise while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental responsibility, safety, and client satisfaction.
