KILLCOHOOK DREDGE SOIL MANAGEMENT

RENOVA serves as the prime contractor, subsequent to a competitive bid selection process by USACE Philadelphia District, to construct site drainage trenches, construct berms, and perform other dredge soil management tasks within this consolidated disposal facility (CDF) in Salem County, NJ. The site regularly receives deposits of slurried material from dredging operations of the Delaware River’s navigational channels. Managing the material presents a multitude of challenges due to its composition of high water content and percentage of fines.

RENOVA mobilized a fleet of four (4) long-reach amphibious excavators, one (1) traditional excavator, four (4) offroad dump trucks (30 CY), two (2) D6 Class dozers, and one (1) amphibious 8×8 all-terrain vehicle to execute this project. Dredge material was dewatered via the excavation of more than 300k CUYDs of material to cut gravity-fed dewatering trenches throughout the complex. Current operations include excavation of more than 150K CUYDS to date of dewatered dredge material, loaded and transported to construct an impoundment wall that will eventually be used to contain a future offload of slurried material. RENOVA has significantly completed the project and safely executed more than 20,000 work hours incident free at the site, while meeting all target production rates through year-round, adverse weather conditions.
