HAZARDOUS SOIL REMEDIATION AND WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM UPGRADES

RENOVA self-performed on multiple support services at the Former Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC) in Trenton, New Jersey to replace a failed storm drain system and remediate the area around the failed section of piping.

RENOVA focused a remedial excavation around a 130’ section of failed corrugated metal piping (CMP) to prevent the potential discharge of TCE-impacted groundwater. Approximately 540 tons of non-hazardous soil and 60 tons of hazardous, TCE-impacted soil were excavated by RENOVA and loaded for transportation and off-site disposal. RENOVA adjusted to the continuously variable needs of the project and provided value engineering for alternative construction remedies. Additionally, a drain collector system and concrete vault were installed by RENOVA within the excavation area to funnel storm water to a groundwater treatment plant. The site was backfilled above the newly-installed pipe and sloped to allow for future improvements to the site.

RENOVA overcame the challenge of controlling the storm water discharge. Any potential safety concerns were quickly addressed by RENOVA and the work was completed with zero reportable incidents.
