REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR OF STEAM DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
RENOVA was selected by the USCG as the prime contractor to perform repairs and replacement of an underground steam distribution system at USCG Yard Baltimore. RENOVA first excavated to a depth of 4 feet, and hand dug around utilities. Portions of the line were removed by hand, replaced, welded, and pressure tested. Approximately 850 linear feet of steam service piping were repaired and replaced throughout the Yard. RENOVA implemented a Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) protocol to secure all energized systems, ensuring no damage to utilities and preventing any safety or health incidents.
Extra precautions were taken by RENOVA to avoid damage to any other underground utilities and to allow USCG operations to carry on with minimal disruptions. Following all work associated with the steam lines, RENOVA completed site restoration, including backfilling and compacting all affected areas and patching with asphalt or concrete. Despite weather-related challenges, the project was completed ahead of schedule to the client’s satisfaction and with zero health or safety incidents.
