[RESIDENTIAL] Leaking Oil Tank Case Closure with Sampling

Piscataway, New Jersey

Rescue of real estate sale through precise soil analysis

“They are a team you can trust.”

Project Summary

Just prior to a real estate transaction of a private residence in Piscataway, RENOVA was contracted to investigate a discharge from a 550-gallon oil tank removal. The tank removal contractor was asking for a significant sum for a remediation, although they had no analytical data showing that it was required. RENOVA dispatched a technician to collect soil samples and meet the requirement for a groundwater investigation, the samples were expedited with a “rush” through our certified lab. Upon receiving the sample results, it was clear that the conditions at the site were within the applicable standards. RENOVA documented the tank removal and sampling events in a Remedial Investigation Report, which was submitted to the NJDEP, and a letter of No Further Action was received shortly thereafter, which allowed for the real estate transaction to proceed.

" We would like to thank the entire team of RENOVA and truly recommend them to anyone who finds themselves in need of an honest and reliable contractor to remove an underground oil tank. We were within days of closing on our house in Central New Jersey when we learned that we had an underground oil tank that had not been identified for over 30 years. In a panic, we hired a firm out of Western New Jersey to remove the tank. After the tank was removed, they told us that it would cost an additional $6,000.00 to clean the area. It didn’t feel right so we contacted RENOVA. From the beginning, they walked us through the process and assured us that they would make every effort to make our closing date which was close and not perform any services not required. They immediately started planning each step, taking soil samples for lab analysis and including getting the information for the DEP. They secured the utilities markout, secured the needed samples, expedited the samples to the Lab and prepared a full report for the NJ DEP. Our samples were negative for oil release and we made our closing date. None of this would have been possible without RENOVA’S expertise and by the way their cost was much lower than the other contractor. They are a team you can trust. If you need a good contractor who you can trust call RENOVA Environmental Services. Thanks Again, The Watkins "
